CLT Vegan Happenings (3-16-15)
Eco-licious ClosingIn sad news, at the end of March, Eco-licious will be closing their brick and mortar store after serving the Charlotte community since 2020. Help them lighten their moving load by picking up some vegan goodies at a discounted rate. They will maintain their online store which you can find here.Bean opens marketplaceIn slightly old but good news, Bean opened up a one-stop, full-scale, vegan market where you can get everything from refrigerated specialty brands such as Chao Cheese, Beyond Meat, as well as homemade salad dressings and desserts to non-refrigerated goodies such as chips, peanut butter, etc. Basically this means that when you go eat at Bean, expect to spend twice as much as you used to when just going for a meal, but at least you won’t have to make a trip to Whole Foods.Whole Foods UptownIn distant future news…speaking of Whole Foods, last month they announced plans to open an Uptown location in 2017.Charlotte Vegfest 2015Put it on your calendar if you haven’t already, because Charlotte Vegfest is only two months away, May 16th, 2015. The three scheduled speakers are The Humane League leader of Charlotte, Andrea Gunn, The Vegan Black Metal Chef, and Ginny Messina (the Vegan RD). Messina is a registered dietitian and expert on nutrition and also is the co-author of several books including the quintessential vegan guide “Vegan For Life.”
